Rehoboth Sand Castle Contest this weekend

If you are in town this weekend, don’t miss the Rehoboth Sand Castle Contest this Saturday August 1st. It takes place on the North side of town (right next to the end of the boardwalk and the Henlopen Hotel).  Contestants start in the morning and judging is usually around 3 PM (although it could be moved up if the weather looks menacing), but if you show up anytime after noon, you’ll see the works well in progress.

Free Concerts at Stango Park (next to the Lewes Library) Every Tuesday Night from May 26th thru Aug 28th

Concerts start at 7 PM. Don’t forget to bring a chair or blanket (and some bug spray)

A great opportunity to view some excellent “riders” skimming the waves in Dewey and of course there will be non-stop partying in the town of Dewey on this particular weekend (and on every other summer weekend, actually, but maybe not quite as organized as on this particular weekend and a few others). 2009 Sandcastle Contest Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

The 31st annual Sandcastle contest will be held Saturday August First at the North end of the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. REgistration begins at 8:30 AM. Judging begins at 3 PM.

Lewes Library – Annual Book Sale on Labor Day Weekend

On Saturday August 30th, 2008, the Friends of the Lewes Public Library  will be holding their Annual Book Sale from 9 AM to 3 PM on the second floor of the Lewes Public Library (located at Adams Street and Kings Highway.  Peruse thousands of books on sale for a dollar or less. The press release states “we have many, many more books than at our previous sale” (which was already big).  The Biblio Bistro will be sell and serving breakfast goods, pastries and beverages so that hungry booklovers can sit outside and enjoy refreshments while looking over their purchases!  All proceeds benefit the Lewes Public Library.

Sand Castle Contest at the Rehoboth Beach

This past Saturday morning began with a major thunderstorm, dampening the beach obligingly for the sand castle contestants.  By 3 p.m. the judges were patrolling the beach to choose the best entries in several categories. Our favorite was the sleeping dog “Ruff Day”. The Sand Castle contest is held every year at the North end of the boardwalk in Rehoboth in front of the Henlopen Hotel.

Saturday August 23rd, Children’s Beach House Barbecue

On Saturday August 23rd – Celebrate a great cause at the 6th Annual Children’s Beach House Barbecue 6:30-9pm. Held at the Children’s Beach House at 1800 Bay Avenue in Lewes. The event benefits the Sandcastle Program, a program serving children with special needs, ages 4-6 in the Cape Henlopen School District. Join us for a night of Food, Fun & Festivities on Lewes Beach. • Stroll through the shaded canopy of old growth trees and explore the old buildings on the historic campus of the Rehoboth Art League while you savor the works of our talented local artists.
